A-Trak @ City Hall 6/12
by Jennifer K Johnson

Montreal born, New York based. Alain Macklovitch, better known as A-Trak, is a well-known and respected artist in the music industry today. His name began echoing around the music community when he won the 1997 DMC World DJ Champion at age fifteen. FIFTEEN! He was an EDM prodigy, and he would become a major player in the continuously expanding music scene today.

The DMC World Championship title isn’t the only awe-inspiring accomplishment young A-Trak had early in his career. In 2004 he was handpicked by self-proclaimed musical genius Kanye West to be his personal tour DJ. The two have been working closely ever since. A-Trak was popping up all over the place; he was performing alongside the A-List rapper at the Grammys and the VMAs. While Kanye’s personality may be questionable, his eye for music is spot on. A-Trak also launched a record label with partner Nick Catchdubs called Fool’s Gold, which has launched the career of popular hip-hop artist Kid Cudi. His name has become recognizable in both hip-hop and EDM. He is known to blend these two genres; best show cased in his albums Dirty South Dance 1 and Dirty South Dance 2.

Always moving forward, A-Trak teamed up Armand Van Helden and together they formed the irresistible Duck Sauce. Their tracks shot straight up the charts, earning a #1 spot on the US Dance Billboard Charts for “Barbara Streisand”. As well as the top spot in many different countries across the world. Duck Sauce was an international hit.

A-Trak is still going full speed, blowing our minds clear out of the water as he goes. In 2013 he nabbed the 7th spot on DJ Times magazine’s America’s Best DJ competition. His video for “Tuna Melt” (a compilation with Tommy Trash) was also nominated for Best Cinematography at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

I don’t know about you guys, but I am stoked to have A-Trak coming to Minneapolis! This is a MUST GO show! Get your tickets ASAP! Click here to purchase.
