“Fueled by the duo’s strong connection with New York hip-hop, Chicago house, disco debauchery, slapstick comedy and, of course, UFOs, no other group is capable of bringing the rich and visual tradition of sample-heavy music into the current pop and EDM trends of 2014.”
Pulled right from the Duck Sauce soundcloud page, the above quote not only embodies where Duck Sauce draws their inspiration from, but also shows the clever wittiness that both A-Trak and Armand Van Helden carry. After teaming up in 2009 to make the duo, A-Trak and Van Helden have never looked back. Pumping out a handful of singles here and there, they slowly but surely started making their rise to the top. After the world was introduced to their Grammy Nominated hit single,”Barbara Streisand”, in 2010, Duck Sauce had made their mark on the industry and the Quack was here to stay.
After releasing a few more singles over the years and building their name, we fast forward to 2013. This is when Duck Sauce put out their “Duck Tape” mix which was featured as a BBC Radio1 Essential Mix. The mix featured some classic Duck Sauce tracks along with some new, unreleased work. They received some excellent feedback on their unreleased work and two months later they dropped a four track EP titled, “Duck Droppings.” The “Duck Droppings” EP also gained some pretty good feedback and once again house music fans all around the world were jamming to the funky sounds of Duck Sauce.
That brings us to the release of their full length album, “Quack.” Duck Sauce released “Quack” about a month ago on A-Trak’s label Fools Gold. The album is really a nice refreshing change from the current sounds that are controlling the industry. In fact, all of Duck Sauce’s tracks are nice change of pace from the big room bangers and heavy wobbles we hear at most main stage performances. Duck Sauce recently played at Coachella and had quite the crowd show up to see these two legendary figures throw down together as Duck Sauce. For any eager fan, it will be tough to catch a Duck Sauce performance as they don’t tour regularly and both have their solo careers to worry about as well. That being said, A-Trak will be joining us on June 12th at City Hall (Formerly Muse) in Downtown Minneapolis. You can surely expect to hear some Duck Sauce tracks thrown into his headlining set. We hope to see plenty of familiar faces come on out and join us for a night full of fun! Tickets can be found here.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkJbkvov9Xc?feature=player_embedded
