It’s been a good minute since Minneapolis last experienced Ferry Corsten. His 2016 stop-in featured a beautifully crafted night at REV and an equally excited crowd to match. With how famed Ferry Corsten is for grinding out material, we can’t help but ask – what has Ferry been up to?
Right before his May appearance in the Twin Cities, 2016 saw Ferry Corsten grooving from project to project. March witnessed the first, stage debut of one of Ferry’s original monkers, “Gouryella”, leaving many die-hard, Trance fans in cardiac arrest. The rest of 2016 seemed quiet; the producer acknowledged a few projects required attention.
As for 2017, the year proved busy for our legendary artist. His sixth studio EP, “Blueprint”, finally saw the light of day, and the album challenged listeners to re-consider how they listen to music. Created in the fashion of a film score, “Blueprint” followed the Sci-Fi story of an intergalactic relationship. Fans could spontaneously jump around and listen to tracks, yet it almost made more sense to listen to “Blueprint” from start to finish. This way, followers were better able to get a good feel for the album’s emotional and melodic composition.
On the heels of explaining “Blueprint’s” film-score style, Ferry also announced his first official film score project for, “Don’t Let Go” by David Gleeson. The film is set to come out later this year, and features the talented Melissa George and Stephen Dorff. Lastly, what’s a good year for music if it doesn’t feature some die-hard, Ferry Corsten tracks? 2018 is set to see a heavy year of Ferry collaborations, so make sure to keep a look out for incoming releases!
The year is just getting started, and we’re excited to have our #SIMFam join in on the adventure. Make sure to join us at REV this Saturday night. Tickets are still available; buy yours here.
