SIMshows is bringing you great artists this week including GRiZ, or Grant Kwiecinski to his mom, a 25-year old that masters that future funk sound with a mix of trip hop and electronica. More recently, GRiZ teamed up with fellow electronic funk icons, Big Gigantic, to put out “Good Times Roll”, a feel good track that took the top spot on Spotify’s viral chart and is continuing to dominate the blogosphere. The artist also released part one of a two-part mixtape as a thank you to the aforementioned following of loyal fans who have been with him every step of the way. GRiZ will continue to develop artists as he expands his self-run record label, All Good Records. He is an experience you won’t want to miss this Saturday at the Myth in St. Paul!
Also on Saturday, we welcome back our hometown hero, Haywyre! Martin Vogt, better known as Haywyre, started making tracks as a teenager; while attending Augsburg College right here in Minneapolis, he started blowing up in his career, touring with the likes of Gramatik and Mat Zo. He has been featured by Vibe, YourEDM, and UFK and continues to blow music lovers’ minds with his futuristic take of glitch hop. Whether you’re trying to pump yourself with energy or groove and chill for the night, Haywyre will be sure to bring a smile to your face.
Now for our Brooklyn-based duo Brasstracks, who together create funked-up, jazzadelic R&B produced with a blend of electronic sounds. It’s big band goes bass with a large dose of hip-hop. A pair who only formed around 18 months ago at Manhattan School of Music. Their newest track, “Telling the Truth”, sounds amazing with its head-bobbing beat and sinus-clearing brass. Check out some of their music below, including “Telling the Truth”, and see what they are bringing to Minnesota this week!
