Festie season is an exciting time of the year, where tons of amazing artists come together to create magical weekends of the best electronic around! The only problem with festie season: it can be insanely expensive. There are hundreds of spectacular festivals to choose from, but most people can only afford a couple and have to give up seeing some of their bucket-list artists at a more expensive festival. However, we at SIM are beyond excited to announce the return of one of the biggest festival Djs around, Hardwell! After almost a year of waiting, Hardwell will be returning to the cities on September 2nd at Myth!
Hailing from the Netherlands, Hardwell started his career in music as a child, learning classical piano and Djing. He enrolled in a music-oriented school in the Netherlands and quickly left the school to pursue a career in music immediately; that’s when Hardwell was born! He started gaining recognizition in 2009 with his mashup of “Show Me Love” by Robin S. and “Be” by Steve Angello and Laidback Luke, and in 2010, he started his own record label, Revealed Recordings. After starting his own radio show and podcast, he released a collab with Tiesto, “Zero 76”, which was his first single to chart number one on Beatport and iTunes. Since then, Hardwell has been featured on MTV and Miami Music Week, as well as being featured as one of the top DJs in the world by DJ Mag for five years straight! He has also become one of the biggest festival Djs out there, repeatedly playing main stages at festivals such as Tomorrowland, Ultra, EDC, Sunburn Festival, and Creamfields. He also recently released 7th volume of his Revealed mix, as well as a preview for his remix of Moby’s “Go”, letting us know that new music will be coming right in time for his show at Myth!
I’m extremely excited about this announcement not only because we get to celebrate the end of festie season with one of the biggest festival artists without having to leave the Twin Cities, but this is also the first time Hardwell will be playing at Myth ever! You can always tell the excitement in an artist’s set when they play a new venue, and Hardwell definitely will not be an exception to this. His stage effects and setup will be perfect for the open design of Myth, and his heavy electro-house slams are sure to turn Maplewood into an earthquake of bass! And it’s also the first time Hardwell has played in the cities on a weekend in almost two years! So not only do we get to end festie season with Hardwell without having to leave the cities, but we get to do it at a brand new venue for him!
In less than 10 years, Hardwell has turned himself from a small-time musician in the Netherlands to one of the top Djs in the world! His intense energy and full-bodied sound has taken over both the Beatport charts and festivals across the world, helping to create what we now know as big room festival house! So whether you’re ending your festie season right or trying to continue festie season without the festie prices, make sure to come out on September 2nd and welcome Hardwell to Myth for the first time!
