Pegboard Nerds, the duo hailing all the way from Scandinavia, have proven consistently that fans will encounter nothing less than a powerful and high intensity experience while in their musical presence. Although originally very successful solo acts, Alexander Odden and Michael Parsberg chose to combine their talent in the Pegboard Nerds name, which led to an even bigger growth in popularity than either ever expected. The two blend a variation of dubstep, glitch-hop, and electro; yet still possess no specific genre or sound to their music. By constantly pushing the limits for innovative production styles, the duo has the unique ability to cater to all types of music lovers.
After many years of ghost producing for other artists, remixing over 200 tracks and creating over 100 original productions as solo artists, Odden and Parsberg agreed on the fact that it was time to join forces and start producing under their own duo title. With help from an anagram maker and inspiration from their last names, the two came up with the name Pegboard Nerds and it’s stuck ever since. The duo experienced much of their breakthrough when they signed on with independent Canadian label Monstercat. This led to people outside of Scandinavia learning more about their music which in turn led to growth in fans and also more interest coming from other artists.
Much of the Pegboard Nerds growth came from releasing singles, but much of it also came from the tremendous amount of iconic remixes they’ve released. In 2012, they released a remix to Krewella’s “Alive,” which helped spread their name across that type of fan base. Later in 2013, they did another remix to Krewella’s song “Live for the Night.” They are also known for the work that they’ve done and the relationship they’ve established with the group Knife Party. As of recently, they released a remix to Mat Zo’s song “Lucid Dreams,” and also to Adventure Club’s “Wonderland.” On top of their long list of successful remixes is also a list of successful singles. In 2012, they released one of their first singles “Gunpoint.” This led to more releases in 2013 including “Razor Sharp,” “Guilty Pleasures,” and “High Roller” to name a few. Continuing into 2014, the duo released more singles which received even more positive feedback from fans. Some 2014 singles include “Here it Comes,” “Newstyle,” and “Hero” featuring Elizaveta. Their steady release of remixes and singles have led to a loyal fan base that hope they continue on this fast paced style of releasing.
Currently on tour in America, the duo sees a positive future ahead of themselves. They have played at festivals in Finland including Neverland Festival in 2013, and also at Summer Sound Festival in 2014. Fans worldwide have grown to love and respect the futuristic vibe they set while performing and are eager to see what possibilities this new group will bring to the scene.
