TyDi @ Rev 1/13/17
by Bradley Loiederman

As the weather continues to get colder, we’ve gotta keep our spirits warm with some Ascension; and that’s where TyDi comes in! Hailing from down under, TyDi is one of the youngest artists ever to sign to Armin Van Buuren’s label and is the youngest recipient of Australia’s #1 DJ award. He is making his way to the tundra this Friday to give us a set of warmth and love at Rev!

Tyson Illingworth, or TyDi, started producing and spinning when he was only 16; in fact, he had to get his older siblings to bring him to clubs so that he could spin. After entering numerous DJ competitions and making his way through the Australian festival circuit, he signed to Armada when he was 17 and was awarded the #1 DJ position in Australia by Technics InTheMix in 2007 and 2008. Since then, he has made it to the top of both dance music charts and iTunes charts in multiple countries and has received the Best Break-Through DJ award from the IDMAs. He has also made it in DJ Mag’s Top 100 four years in a row. He recently released a single with Morten titled “Sharpest Weapon” that has already gained almost 500k listens on Soundcloud and is the driving force of his new tour. TyDi is a prodigy in trance music, and his DIY success makes him an exciting artist to witness!

Though TyDi typically produces trance and progressive house tracks, his more recent tracks veer away from his iconic trance sound. “Wanna Lose You”, his collaboration with Borgeous, was his point of entrance into other, more bass and drop focused EDM. It builds up and then deconstructs itself after the drop, unlike his trance sound which often elevates and expands after the drop. He continues this trend in his newest track, “Sharpest Weapon”, which sounds more like a future bass track than a trance track. Even though TyDi has been creating electronic music for a while, he still morphs his art and creates new sounds for his fans to adore.

TyDi has been signed to Armada, been appointed as one of the top Djs multiple times, has a music technology degree from the Queensland Conservatory of Music, and once Friday comes around, will have come to Minneapolis! So get your ears and feet ready for a night of feels and embrace with TyDi at Rev on Friday!
