Cameron Windsor was first drawn into the dance music scene back in 2008 and solidified that love when he saw his first live show, Tiesto on Halloween in 2009 in Minneapolis. Little did he know that his interest in dance music would grow over the years to become something more than just a hobby. After going to countless shows as a spectator, he grabbed some equipment of his own and started djing house parties and bar gigs in Duluth, Minnesota under the moniker “Big Dog.” After entering and winning an opener contest he found himself warming up the decks on the main stage when Avicii made his first and only appearance in Minneapolis. Since then Windsor has dived head first into the dance music scene. He has djed all over Minneapolis, from small local gigs to opening for international djs such as: Avicii, Arty, Above and Beyond and winning the 2012 Summer Set Music Festival DJ Contest. Along with performing, Windsor has also taken his music passion in a different direction. A year and a half ago he took on a writing job with Techibeats.com, a record label and dance music blog based out of LA, and also promoting with Sound In Motion in Minneapolis. Both jobs have really opened the door for Cameron, from working with some of the biggest artists in the industry to covering shows all the way from Minneapolis to Ibiza, not to mention meeting some awesome people along the journey. Since playing the last few years under the “Big Dog” moniker, Cameron has decided to drop that name and go with Windsor from now on. The name change wasn’t easy, however he felt it was needed. 2014 is going to be a big year for Windsor. He is focusing more on the production side of things and is slowly working away in the studio trying to develop a sound of his own. He is opening for Alex Metric coming up at Marquee on January 16th. After that gig he won’t be playing out too much until he has some production work done. So, be sure to come on out Thursday and check out Windsor as he opens for Alex Metric!
