VENUE ANNOUNCEMENT: Zeds Dead @ Myth 10/14/16
by Bradley Loiederman

Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan manifested DJ prodigy Zeds Dead. Dylan, known better as DC and Zachary known as Hooks established their name in the music industry back in 2007. The band name Zeds Dead originated from the movie, Pulp Fiction. In the movie, when Coolidge gets home, his partner asks him where he got the chopper. He tells her he got it from Zed, when she then asks, “Who’s Zed?” He replies with “Zed’s dead, baby. Zed’s dead.” With such a unique background for their artist name, nothing should surprise you. DC and Hooks later initiated their idea of a record label that same year. In 2007, Mass Productions came to life. All it took was a MySpace page before bringing attention nationwide. Their first live set was later held in Toronto in 2009. In 2010, Zeds Dead launched their first North American tour. Zeds Dead traveled across Canada and the U.S. visiting over 40 different cities.

After collaborating numerous kinds of different genres, Zeds Dead have released tracks gaining praise across the globe. These dynamic, hard working artists have reached a point of paramount significance in the music industry. The Victor EP was released in March of 2012 on Mad Decent’s Jeffree’s label. The album featured fellow Toronto native, Omar Linx. Featured track “You and I” depicts melodic vocals and a heavy bass line with a 90’s Hip Hop feel that Omar Linx illustrates perfectly. After Zeds Dead released their EP Somewhere Else in 2014, the duo charted Billboard Top 200 among other charts that year. In May of 2015, the video for “Lost You” received an MMVA nomination for best EDM/Dance video and won the award for Best Post-Production. Not long after, Billboard exclusively announced Zeds Dead’s 2 Night Stand Tour, promoting their new album for 2016. Fans nationwide have thoroughly enjoyed supporting Zeds Dead’s progression in the EDM Scene. This past March, Zeds Dead launched their record label, Deadbeats. Zeds Dead teamed up with Freddie Gibbs and released their featured single representing Deadbeats Records, titled “Back Home”.

Zeds Dead portrays a style of music that varies from deep house to trap. Since collaborating with Omar Linx, producing music has to come natural at this point.
